Message from the New GWMSC President for 2001 - 2003:

To the Members of the GWMSC:

This is the first time I have had the chance to greet you as you new President. It was an unexpected pressure to be chosen and elected as your President for the 2001 - 2002 term. I will to thank Bro. Ed Smith for all the help and assistance he has given the Club during his term of office. I will be looking to his continued aid and assistance for my term of office.

I will do all that is in my power to support and assist the Club in any way that my limited time permits. Already I slipped in a note about the Club in the Royal Arch Grand Chapter of Virginiašs Newsletter and hope to follow that up with articles on our covers and other activities for the Royal Arch Magazine (for those interested, the cover article for the Summer 2001 is by your President, but not about philatelic interests) and other Masonic publications. But I need help!!! If any of you have an idea for an article centering around a collection of GWMSC covers, please share it with me. What I would need would be high quality photocopies of the covers of interest and what you would like to see in the article. I will attempt to pull it together and submit it for publication.

Next, is the meeting of the Club at Baltimore Philatelic Society (BALPEX). Our meeting will take place at the usual time on Saturday, September 1, 2001. BALPEX is to be held at the Marriott's Hunt Valley Inn, in Hunt Valley, Maryland, located at I-83 at Shawan Road (Exit 20; Exit 20A from Baltimore). I understand there is free parking available and special rates for BALPEX attendees in the paid facilities. The three day admission to BALPEX is $4.00. Unfortunately I will not be up to BALPEX until Saturday, though I hope to be there early and with my family. I am looking forward to seeing you there.

If you can not attend, then please plan for our next meeting in February 2002 at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. It will be on the Sunday following George Washingtonšs birthday and will be followed by a dinner at a local restaurant.

Again, let me express how much of an honor and pleasure it is that you have selected me as you President and I wish to thank the Club for all the support, joy and encouragement you have given me and others who have a philatelic interest, large or small (like myself), you are a wonderful group of Brothers.

Fraternally yours,

Walter P. Benesch,
President, GWMSC 2001-2003
